Privacy Policy

TaskQuest ("the app") is an Android app for planning, habits, focus, household and money. This policy explains what the app collects, where it is stored, and what you can do about it. It covers the app and this website.

Data stored on your device

By default TaskQuest runs without an account. Everything you enter — quests and to-dos, habits, notes, Brain Raid entries, work, study and errand lists, household, pet and plant lists, focus timers, money entries (accounts, balances, expenses, income, savings and budget), XP, gold and settings — is stored on your phone. We cannot see it. Uninstalling the app or using "Reset all data" removes it from the phone.

Your phone's backup (Google Drive)

TaskQuest allows Android's built-in backup. If backup is turned on for your phone, Android may copy the app's data — including your money entries — to your Google account, where it is stored in Google Drive and can be restored if you reinstall the app or set up a new phone. This backup is operated by Google under your Google account and Google's Privacy Policy; we do not receive or have access to it. You can turn it off in your phone's Settings under Google › Backup (the wording varies by phone), and manage or delete existing backups from your Google account.

Data we process when you sign in

Signing in is optional and exists so your data can move between devices. You can sign in with Google or with an email address and password. If you sign in, we process:

• Account identifiers — your user ID, email address, and the display name and profile photo your Google account provides, through Firebase Authentication. We use these only to identify your data and sign you in.
• Your app content — the data listed under "Data stored on your device" above. It is stored in Google Cloud Firestore, scoped by security rules so that only your signed-in account can read or write it.

We do not use this content for advertising, profiling, or training any model, and we do not sell or rent it.

Sharing with a partner

If you are signed in, you can pair with one other person. Creating an invite code stores your name and email address with that code for up to 24 hours, so the person you give it to can see who invited them. Once paired, the areas of the app you both choose to share (for example the grocery list, notes or finances) are stored in a household record that only the two of you can read and change; you can switch any area back to private in Settings. Your name, level, XP, gold, theme and reminder settings are never shared. Leaving the household deletes the shared copy; each of you keeps the data on your own phone.

Voice input

The microphone button lets you add an appointment by speaking. It asks for microphone permission the first time, and listens only while its listening window is open. The speech is turned into text by your phone's speech recognition service (usually Google's), which may process the audio on Google's servers under Google's Privacy Policy unless your phone does it offline. TaskQuest receives only the resulting text, reads the appointment out of it on your phone, and stores it like any appointment you type. We never receive or keep audio.

Reminders

Reminders and appointment alerts are scheduled on your phone by Android. No server sends them, and scheduling them sends nothing to us.

Advertising

The app shows no ads and contains no advertising SDK.

Analytics and crash reporting

Google Play collects basic install and crash statistics for any app distributed through it, as described in Google's own policies. We do not add a separate third-party analytics SDK.

Children

TaskQuest is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.

How long we keep data

Synced data is kept for as long as your account exists. When you ask us to delete it, we remove it from Firestore and from your Firebase Authentication record. Backups roll off within 30 days. Copies held by your phone's own Google backup are controlled by you in your Google account, not by us.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, restrict or delete the personal data we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, use the data deletion page or the contact address below. We answer within 30 days.

Security

Synced data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored in Google Cloud Firestore with security rules that prevent one account from reading another's data; shared household data is readable only by the two paired accounts. Apart from your phone's own Google backup described above, we do not store your data anywhere else. No system is perfect.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top and, where the change affects synced data, note it in the app.
